Colombian-American baritone Juan-Sebastián Suarez is an active performer in the New York City and Boston areas, performing regularly with organizations such as Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, Carduus Vocal Ensemble, Odyssey Opera, Opera Del West, and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras.

Most notably, Juan has been featured on a series of world premieres with organizations such as Catalyst New Music, Opera Del West, and with Sparks & Wiry Cries’ 2025 SongSlam at the National Sawdust. Juan’s engagements in recent years include performances with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra as Escamillo in Georges Bizet’s classic opera, Carmen, and singing in the chorus for the GRAMMY nominated recording of Mark Adamo and John Corigliano’s opera The Lord of Cries with Odyssey Opera. Other mainstage roles include Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Guglielmo (Cosi fan Tutte), The Father (Hansel und Gretel), and Mercurio (La Calisto).

In addition, Juan has been featured as a soloist in several sacred works such as Händel’s Messiah, Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël with Our Lady Star of the Sea in Marblehead, MA, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with the Polymnia Choral Society, and Brahms’ Requiem at the historic King’s Chapel in Boston.

In September 2025, Juan produced his first major project with Nightingale Vocal Ensemble. Co-created with Regina Stroncek, Justicia y Paz features music by Latin-American composers and songwriters, most notably Ariel Ramirez, Nico Gutierrez, Liduino Pitombeira and Violetta Parra. This concert also featured the premiere of two Latin-American folk music arrangements for choir written by Juan-Sebastián. Performances were done in collaboration with St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in Chestnut Hill, MA, and the Veronica Robles Cultural Center in East Boston.

Juan’s engagements in 2026 include concerts with the St. Patrick’s Cathedral choir in NYC, as well as a return to Boston for a performance of Giancarlo Menotti’s rarely performed Opera Buffa, The Last Savage, with Odyssey Opera in March.

Juan-Sebastián holds music degrees from The New England Conservatory of Music and Stetson University.
